Information Already Relayed but a Reminder

Character creation:
  • Start your characters at 3rd level
  • For stats, please roll 4d6 six times, once for each stat.  Remove the lowest die from each score.  Also, if a stat is below 8 from the roll (not from racial changes), reroll that stat.  Once all 6 are rolled, then roll 1d4 and add those points as you will among the stats (all points to one stat, or break the points a apply to multiple stats).
  • Backgrounds need to be created and given to me as soon as you can.  No more than 5 pages for a background.
  • I would like to plan 1-on-1 meetings with each of you between now and mid-September to begin to get some info on your characters: races and classes (know most of those already), what drives the character, the start of backgrounds so that I can pull into the campaign, as able.
  • Choose two (2) character traits, per the rules
  • You have 3,000gp to spend at the start, per rules for a 3rd level character
  • For spellcasters, you may choose from spells in the Core Rulebooks, but any spells from supplements, including '1001 Spells', need my approval first. This doesn't mean non-Core spells won't be available, but I don't want them at the starting gate without reason.
Campaign Material:
  • You all have access to the book,"Varisia, Birthplace of Legends." This is the nation we will be basing the campaign in. Please read the material carefully; there are ramifications to choices for places of birth/ race/ class in some instances. Let me know if this link does not work for you as I shared it on Google Drive.
  • Also, please read up on Varisia in "The Inner Sea World Guide" (pp. 194-197). It will be much the same material, but some extra stuff as well.
  • Korvosa is the city we will be playing with for the "city" portion. I ask that you do NOT read the supplement "Guide to Korvosa" as there are things a player and character would not know as common knowledge. Only read those items I have given you from this book.
  • The town for the "rural" portion we will be based out of is called Clearwater's Gate, located in a hilly region at the foot of Mindspin Mountains where a small river called Clearwater runs into the Falcon River. It is about 40-50 miles almost directly North of Korvosa. If you want to be from there or are living there, feel free to create information and add to your background. The town will be homemade and is about 145 people all together, including nearby farms and such.
  • The new book just released for Pathfinder, "Mythic Adventures," I will NOT be opening up for play at this time for the new campaign. It's complex and adds a lot of new, power-heavy rules, including changes to existing feats, classes and spells. We can discuss it for later or in a different campaign, but I'm not ready as a DM for it right now.
I will begin posting characters and very limited info on them as you send them to me.  Basically, gender, photo (please send a photo of your characters to me), and main character class, if appropriate.  Let me know if you are against the later for character background reasons.  It'll come out in play at some point, so I'm open to that.

I'll post again soon!

The Beginning for the Campaign - Players' Blog

This blog will be the notes for players in our new Pathfinder campaign, which I have titled "Reflections of Sin."  I'll post some character information and photos, session notes and progress after each game, photos and relevant information on NPCs, and other stuff which the players should have access to.

This blogging will also be complimented by a separate blog which I will use to discuss how I am designing the campaign, the overall story arc, details of background on the campaign and NPC stats and photos.  For my friends who are playing in the campaign, I really suggest avoiding the companion blog as it will give away plot details and ruin the surprise for you and me.  For anyone who wants access to that blog, if you haven't found it, let me know and I can give the link.

This blog will also be for the players in my game to make comments, suggestions and such.  It is our game and I want to make certain I take into consideration what is working for you all and what isn't, where I might make changes, and any advice you might have.

Other folks are welcome to make comments as well, but please be respectful.  Constructive criticism and suggestions are welcome; pissy comments and "I can do this better!  This sucks!" comments will be deleted.  It is a game for my friends and I first; please respect our desire to have fun.  I make no claims as to being great at making a campaign; I just try my best while enjoying the hobby.

The game will begin in a few months, but I will post character information (not full backgrounds, of course) as they trickle in, and some background info.

We play the 2nd Saturday of each month, as a reminder, barring holidays or the need to move a session due to schedules.  I will endeavor to post the game notes shortly after the session (i.e. within a week, if I can).  I hope this blog is a good addition to our game, and I will try my best to make it a useful tool and the game enjoyable!

Thanks!
